Today my article for Annesley Writers went live. This month they are focusing on gender-based violence, including domestic violence. They asked me to write this piece and I was thrilled to be a part of this project.
Here’s a teaser.
It was a chilly spring afternoon when I got a call from an unknown number. “Christy, help me” the person on the other line whispered. I sat up straight and tried to figure out where I knew the voice. She continued, “I had to run away again and no one from church would give me your number.” I kept listening intently. “So, I walked two miles home so I could find your contact information and call.” She kept speaking, agony and suffering heavy in her tone, “I finally got ahold of you anyway. Now that I’ve found you, can you meet me?”
